Buckley continued her flawless Saturday at Winton, taking a commanding victory in the second TA2 Muscle Car Series race. The driver of the #150 Chevrolet Camaro crossed the line 3.5 seconds ahead of Ben Gomersall, completing a clean sweep of the day's races.
The win propels Buckley firmly into championship contention, while Tyler Cheney endured another challenging outing.
Lightning Start and Midfield Battles
Just as in Race 1, Buckley nailed the start and immediately pulled away from Gomersall, leading comfortably into Turn 1. Behind them, Hayden Hume and Ayce Buckley briefly challenged but soon settled into third and fourth.
Cheney, still recovering from earlier issues, ran off at the final corner on Lap 1. Meanwhile, Jackson Rice charged from the rear to break into the top 10 within a few laps.
Incidents and Attrition
The race saw its share of drama: Clint Rayner and Chris Smerdon collided at Turn 3, also involving Domain Ramsay. Smerdon later forced Cheney wide at Turn 4. Des Collier retired with a left rear puncture similar to Race 1, and Cheney pitted with a fluid leak but rejoined a lap down. Robbie Farr also pitted with driveline issues while running in the top 10.
Brock Paine finished sixth, ahead of Rice and Tommy Smith. Danny Reidy was ninth, with Ramsay completing the top 10 after a hard-fought race.
With this result, Buckley strengthens her championship bid, while Cheney will look to rebound. The TA2 Muscle Car Series continues on Sunday with a 10-minute warm-up at 9:00am AEST, followed by qualifying and two more races.
