Thomas Bridewell has officially extended his contract with the Superbike Advocates Racing team for the 2027 season. The announcement caps a debut campaign full of twists, and reaffirms the team's trust in the British rider.
The Australia-based team missed the opening round in Australia due to a late entry into WorldSBK, which many saw as an ominous sign. But as the season progressed, Bridewell emerged as a surprise package, consistently scoring points and turning heads in the paddock.
From Late Start to Revelation
Bridewell, 38, is the 2023 British Superbike champion. Although currently last among the Ducati riders in the standings, he has delivered notable results such as fifth place in Race 1 at Aragon and Donington. Those performances convinced the team founded by Lee Khouri that Bridewell is the right man to carry their project forward.
“I thank Lee and the team for this incredible opportunity,” Bridewell said in an official statement. “I think it has been a fantastic first season and from here I will start again for 2027. Having the opportunity to continue and grow in a great team like this is a dream come true. There are changes on the horizon in WorldSBK regarding tyres and other things, but the whole team has a clear goal: to do the best possible. Undoubtedly, exciting times are ahead. Obviously, the first goal is to finish 2026 in the best way possible. I think we will have a day off after Jerez before the 2027 pre-season begins; I can't wait to get to work.”
The Family Vision of Lee Khouri
Team owner Lee Khouri explained the reasoning behind the decision. “Tommy has been a huge component of our progress in our first year in WorldSBK, and continuing together for 2027 was an easy decision. We have always said that we built this team like a family and we will continue this journey as a family. We started from scratch with the desire to fight at the top, and although we have made incredible progress, there is still a long way to go. I am proud that Tommy continues this journey with us and we are excited about what 2027 will bring.”
The decision also comes amid a heating-up WorldSBK rider market. By extending Bridewell, Superbike Advocates signal their serious intent to step up. Bridewell himself acknowledges that technical changes, including tyre regulations, will pose a challenge. However, his championship-winning experience and determination are valuable assets.
For WorldSBK fans, the continuation of Bridewell's story with a team synonymous with family spirit is one to watch. The 2026 season still has several rounds to go, and Bridewell is determined to finish on a high note before welcoming the new season. One thing is certain: the journey of Bridewell and Superbike Advocates is far from over.
