Monaco has changed its face again, but this time not for a race. Over the past week, Bradley Cooper and a major film crew transformed the Monaco street circuit into a 1960s setting for the upcoming Ocean's Eleven prequel.
The shoot ran from August 24 to 28, covering iconic locations such as Port Hercule, Avenue Princesse Grace, Place du Casino, Portier, and Larvotto. Notably, replica 1960s Formula 1 cars took to the same track that hosted the 1962 Monaco Grand Prix.
The Warner Bros. project, directed and written by Cooper—who also stars—features him as Danny Ocean's father, the legendary character once played by George Clooney. He stars alongside Margot Robbie as Danny's parents. Other cast members include Wagner Moura, Monica Barbaro, Josh Gad, and Omar Sy.
“Before Danny Ocean ever stepped foot in Vegas, two masterminds taught him everything he knows—his parents,” Robbie teased during a CinemaCon preview. “You'll see them in their prime, pulling off an epic heist at the 1962 Monaco Grand Prix.”
The 1962 Monaco Grand Prix itself has a fascinating story: Bruce McLaren won, while Jim Clark, who started from pole, retired on lap 55 due to a clutch issue. The podium also featured Ferrari duo Phil Hill and Lorenzo Bandini.
The film is scheduled for release on June 25, 2027—a treat for motorsport and cinema fans alike.
