Marco Bezzecchi had to settle for second place in the MotoGP San Marino sprint after starting from pole position. The Aprilia rider lost the lead to Marc Marquez at Turn 1 and was unable to reclaim it before the chequered flag.

Bezzecchi revealed that his main issue was a lack of stability with a full fuel tank. "In free practice, I felt better. But this is a problem we've had in the last two GPs: when I start the race with a full tank, I struggle in the first three or four laps," he said.

Nevertheless, the Italian remained optimistic. "Today I can't complain about myself because I did everything right. I braked hard, closed the line. He was just a little bit better," he added. He also admitted there was little he could do to stop Marquez.

Bezzecchi opted for the soft rear tyre for the sprint, while Marquez and his Aprilia teammate Jorge Martin went with the medium. This choice will be a factor for the main race on Sunday.

Looking ahead to the grand prix, Bezzecchi is undecided on his tyre choice. "This track has a lot of traction and grip, so tyre wear is not much. It's just feeling. We'll see which tyre I choose, but I'm confident with both," he explained.

With this sprint result, Bezzecchi now sits 22 points behind the championship leader. The title fight is still wide open, and he is determined to put up a stronger fight in the main race.
