Marco Bezzecchi delighted the home crowd by storming to the top of the timesheets in Friday Practice for the San Marino Grand Prix at Misano. The Aprilia rider edged out Marc and Alex Marquez to secure a direct spot in Q2.
The session kicked off with an intense battle for supremacy as Alex Marquez and Bezzecchi traded fastest laps. However, the Italian ultimately prevailed, putting Aprilia at the top in a closely fought contest with Ducati.
Fabio Di Giannantonio continued his strong form with the fourth-fastest time, just ahead of VR46 teammate Franco Morbidelli in fifth. It was Morbidelli's first top-five Practice result since the Italian GP at Mugello in May. The team's performance was watched closely by owner and seven-time MotoGP champion Valentino Rossi, who was present in the garage.
Pedro Acosta bounced back from his morning crash to finish sixth, leading Honda's Luca Marini in seventh. Johann Zarco put in a solid lap to take eighth, securing a Q2 spot alongside KTM test and replacement rider Pol Espargaro in ninth.
Championship leader Jorge Martin claimed the tenth and final automatic Q2 spot. His survival leaves the other riders to navigate Q1 tomorrow morning, including local star Enea Bastianini.
As the sole Trackhouse Racing entry this weekend, Raul Fernandez settled for 12th place despite an eye-catching third in FP1. Fermin Aldeguer, Joan Mir, and Brad Binder rounded out the top 15.
Despite holding the lap record here, a 1:30.031 set in 2024, factory Ducati rider Francesco Bagnaia struggled again to find setup solutions and ended up down in 19th place.
