Pecco Bagnaia lasted only five laps at Misano. A pointless Sprint, a crash in the race, and a weekend to forget. The two-time MotoGP champion spoke with a flat, almost resigned tone.
Five Laps of Pain
Around the Marco Simoncelli Circuit, Bagnaia never found feeling with his Desmosedici. Out in Q1, outside the points in the Sprint, and then a crash in the race. Three consecutive scoreless rounds: Silverstone, Aragon, Misano. Meanwhile, Ducati placed three bikes in the top four.
“I crashed, it can happen. I have little to say, honestly. Ducati did a good job, they won, and we'll find a solution,” Bagnaia told Sky Italia. The phrase “they won” stung. It sounded like a rider already speaking as a former factory team member.
A Suspended Quote
When asked about the cause of the crash, he refused to elaborate. “I fell,” he cut short. But on the possibility of a revival at Aprilia, Bagnaia opened up slightly. “Let's hope. I'm 100% convinced it can happen. But there are still eight races and the situation is not easy. I'm pushing hard but I don't have the feeling; as soon as I try something different, I crash.”
He also highlighted the team's hard work that hasn't paid off. “I'm very sorry because the team is working so hard to give me the chance to do well. But results don't come, and it's hard to accept. This is the reality, I crashed again today.”
Motegi and Red Bull Ring
Asked if Motegi could be a turning point, Bagnaia gave a cryptic answer. “We'll see, it depends. On what? I won't say, but it depends.” Then on Austria: “Red Bull Ring is a beautiful track. I always had great weekends until two years ago, hopefully we can return to that.”
The gap between Bagnaia and Ducati is growing. His poor Misano performance adds mental burden, while rivals like Marc Marquez and others keep pushing. Eight races left, and Bagnaia must find answers before the season truly becomes a nightmare.
