Peter Malinauskas confirmed that the Adelaide street circuit plans for MotoGP's 2027 debut have received the green light after securing federal environmental clearance from the National Environmental Agency following a community consultation process.
The upcoming Adelaide track is set to host the Australian Grand Prix, marking a historic milestone as the sport's very first street race while replacing the iconic Phillip Island as the home of the event in Australia.
The layout is a modified version of the circuit previously utilized by Formula 1 for its Australian Grand Prix before the championship relocated its race to Albert Park in Melbourne back in 1996.

Despite facing widespread public opposition regarding potential parkland disruption and the felling of mature trees, the project is now officially moving forward into the detailed design phase which includes developing a comprehensive tree and vegetation plan.
Environmental protections dictate that gravel run-off zones will be substituted with grass when the venue is inactive, while the pitlane infrastructure will double as a facility for local community sporting activities.
"This is an important milestone for the Adelaide Circuit Redevelopment, with federal environmental clearance confirmed and community feedback helping inform the next stage of planning as we count down to MotoGP arriving in Adelaide in November 2027," Peter Malinauskas stated.
He further emphasized that Adelaide will become the pioneering city globally to host a world championship motorcycle grand prix on urban asphalt, placing South Australia firmly on the international sporting map.
This regulatory update arrives just days after the final Australian Grand Prix weekend at Phillip Island suffered a complete washout due to adverse weather conditions.
Prominent figures on the grid including Jack Miller and Marc Marquez voiced their disappointment, noting that Phillip Island deserved a much better conclusion to its tenure.
Event organizers have officially slated the inaugural Adelaide weekend for November 12-14, 2027, as preparations accelerate toward the much-anticipated street circuit event.
