MotoGP, Sportrik Media - Francesco Bagnaia, the star rider for Ducati, revealed that a minor setup adjustment made during the Hungarian Grand Prix has significantly enhanced his confidence for the 2025 Catalan Grand Prix. This tweak, measuring less than two centimeters, has proven to be a game-changer for the two-time world champion after a challenging season.

A Small Tweak with Major Impact

During the Hungarian Grand Prix at Balaton Park on August 24, 2025, Bagnaia endured his toughest weekend of the season, finishing ninth. However, a radical setup change on his Ducati bike restored his ability to brake while leaning into corners. "We’re talking about just under two centimeters. It was like a return to the past," Bagnaia stated. This adjustment addressed a critical issue that plagued him throughout the 2025 season.

Bagnaia explained that the inability to brake while leaning had been a significant hurdle. "If you can’t brake in the lean, you’re in big trouble," he said. Previous compromise solutions failed, but this new approach allowed better throttle and fuel management, marking a turning point in his performance.

Confidence for Catalonia

Following the Hungarian tweak, Bagnaia approaches the Catalan Grand Prix with renewed optimism. He noted improved ability to follow and overtake other riders, a stark contrast to earlier races. "In the last race, I could follow others and overtake. It was fantastic," he shared. This boost is crucial as he prepares for Barcelona, where he secured victories in both the Catalan and Solidarity Grand Prix events last year.

Bagnaia emphasized his mental resilience, stating, "I always have maximum confidence and manage to reset my mindset for the weekend." This mindset, combined with the technical adjustment, sets a positive tone for the upcoming race.

Challenges in the 2025 Season

The 2025 season has been demanding for Bagnaia, with growing pressure from Marc Marquez and Marco Bezzecchi in the fight for third in the MotoGP standings. Additionally, Aprilia has emerged as a formidable rival. Nevertheless, Bagnaia’s recent breakthrough offers hope for a stronger second half of the season.

This minor adjustment signals a promising step forward for Bagnaia and the Ducati team. With the Hungarian Grand Prix as a turning point, Bagnaia aims to maintain this momentum in Catalonia and beyond. The upcoming race will test whether this change can deliver consistent results, paving the way for a competitive finish to the 2025 season.
