Yamaha has officially confirmed that Izan Guevara will step up from Pramac's Moto2 team to replace Jack Miller in MotoGP for the 2027 season. The announcement came on Thursday ahead of the Aragon Grand Prix, ending weeks of speculation linking the Moto2 frontrunner to a premier class promotion.

Guevara's promotion marks the first success of Yamaha's BLU CRU development structure, which was implemented with Pramac in Moto2 last season. The Japanese manufacturer has invested heavily in nurturing young talent, and this move signals their long-term commitment to building a strong pipeline of riders.

Yamaha MD Paolo Pavesio expressed his excitement about the promotion. "Izan's promotion to MotoGP is a great example of what the BLU CRU programme was designed to achieve," he said. "We have known Izan's talent for many years. The speed he demonstrated on his way to becoming Moto3 World Champion left no doubt about his potential."

Pavesio highlighted Guevara's growth despite challenging seasons in Moto2. "After two challenging seasons in Moto2, we made a mutual commitment around a year and a half ago to help him towards the ultimate goal of reaching MotoGP. Throughout that journey, Izan has shown exactly what we hoped to see," he added.

Guevara, currently second in the Moto2 standings and 42.5 points behind the leader, tested a Yamaha MotoGP bike in Valencia last November. Reflecting on his promotion, he said, "This is a dream come true for me. Reaching MotoGP has always been my goal, and I know how difficult it is to arrive in the premier class."

Despite the upcoming move, Guevara remains focused on his current campaign. "I am very calm because my focus remains fully on Moto2. We are fighting for the championship, and my objective is to finish this chapter of my career in the best possible way," he stated. "Looking ahead to 2027, I am excited by the challenge. MotoGP will enter a new era, and I believe this is the perfect time to make the step."

With new technical regulations coming in 2027, Izan Guevara is poised to be part of a wave of rookies adapting to the new machinery. This decision underscores Yamaha's dedication to developing future stars, aligning with their long-term vision in the sport.
