The inaugural season of the Sportbike world championship delivered intense battles on the tarmac, shifting focus from traditional slipstream duels to pure technical consistency and race craft. The ultimate glory of the maiden title went to Xavi Artigas following a dramatic championship showdown.
The Spanish rider has officially renewed his commitment to the competitive Kawasaki Moto Tuning Mol squad, opting to defend his crown rather than stepping up prematurely. At 23 years old, the reigning champion retains a bright future ahead with strong backing from Kawasaki Europe behind the collaborative racing project.
Reflecting on the grueling campaign, Steve Guttridge highlighted the remarkable comeback staged by his rider. Artigas initially faced a daunting 42-point deficit behind compatriot David Salvador before orchestrating a brilliant tactical resurgence.

"I am extremely happy to continue my journey with the Kawasaki Europe family, and as a world champion, this feels very special," said Artigas. "After winning the world title, my next challenge is defending it, and I am in a great position with complete trust in Ludo and the team to achieve more victories together."`
With technical harmony and proven race management, the champion enters the upcoming season fully prepared to fend off fierce challenges from the hungry grid of young talents.
