The international motorcycle racing paddock has been sent into a spin following a monumental decision by the legendary Dutch squad, Ten Kate. After a highly successful partnership yielding multiple world championship titles with the Japanese manufacturer, the Nieuwleusen-based outfit officially informed Yamaha that their collaboration will conclude at the end of the current season.

This massive shift comes on the heels of a lucrative and ambitious offer from Chinese motorcycle giant QJ Motor, which is aggressively scaling up its commitment to the World Supersport Championship. The manufacturer is currently establishing its own dedicated racing department at its massive facility in China, making them an exceptionally attractive and well-funded ally for any top-tier racing team.

Intensive talks began back in September when QJ Motor representatives scouted various paddock teams before initiating direct contact with Ten Kate. Following mutual site visits and thorough negotiations, a multi-year contract was formally signed, marking a huge turning point for a team that previously tasted immense glory with Honda and later dominated the supersport class.

This strategic move signals a growing wave of competitive Chinese manufacturing entering top-level motorcycle racing. With exclusive factory backing and a proven championship-winning structure, Ten Kate aims to replicate and even surpass their historical successes under the new banner starting in the upcoming years.

Looking ahead to the rider lineup for the new venture, reigning front-runner Can Oncu is set to remain with the squad, successfully transitioning over to the QJ Motor project. Meanwhile, discussions regarding the second machine are ongoing, with Moto2 rider Zonta van den Goorbergh currently tipped as the leading candidate for the remaining seat.
