Veda Ega Pratama is beginning to emerge as a serious contender within the leading Moto3 group after an impressive performance at the 2026 French Grand Prix in Le Mans. The Honda Team Asia rider is now moving closer to the top five in the world championship standings following another strong result in difficult wet conditions.

Le Mans became one of the most important weekends of Veda’s season so far. Despite losing several positions during the opening lap after a difficult start, the Indonesian rider produced a consistent recovery drive and demonstrated increasingly mature racecraft on a low-grip circuit.

Veda briefly dropped outside the top 10 before gradually working his way back into the leading group. During the middle phase of the race, he capitalised on mistakes from several rivals while maintaining a controlled rhythm as many riders struggled to manage the slippery conditions.

The performance highlighted major progress in Veda’s race management compared to the opening rounds of the season. Earlier in the year, he often relied heavily on aggression and outright pace, but he is now showing improved ability to read race situations and manage risk in difficult conditions.

That development is especially important in Moto3, a category where races are often decided by small details such as tyre temperature, slipstream positioning, and momentum management within large rider groups.

Beyond the final result, Veda’s improvement has also become visible through his growing consistency across recent rounds. Honda Team Asia has started to show progress in race pace and bike stability, particularly in low-grip and changing weather conditions.

The progress now places Veda increasingly close to the top five in the 2026 Moto3 standings. With the points gap continuing to shrink, a realistic opportunity is emerging for him to enter the leading championship battle if the positive trend continues during the upcoming European rounds.

At the same time, the Moto3 championship fight has become increasingly open because of inconsistency among several key rivals. Multiple riders previously ahead of Veda lost valuable points at Le Mans after crashing in the extremely demanding wet race conditions.

Maximo Quiles remains the clear championship leader with Aspar Team, but the battle behind him is beginning to shift significantly. The situation creates an important opportunity for riders like Veda to continue climbing the standings.

Perhaps the most significant aspect of Veda’s recent development is his growing composure under pressure. At Le Mans, he remained calm while several rivals made critical mistakes, a quality that often becomes decisive in long Moto3 championship campaigns.

The momentum also arrives at an ideal time ahead of the Catalan Grand Prix, a circuit with characteristics very different from Le Mans and one that could suit Veda’s riding style more effectively. If he can maintain consistent scoring results while avoiding major mistakes, the Indonesian rider’s chances of breaking into the Moto3 top five will continue to grow.
