Valtteri Bottas Claims Cadillac F1 Facilities Surpass Mercedes

Despite failing to score a single point in their debut Formula 1 campaign, Valtteri Bottas has made the surprising assertion that Cadillac's brand-new facilities have already surpassed those of his former powerhouse team, Mercedes.

When asked by the Financial Times whether Cadillac's state-of-the-art infrastructure beats the Brackley outfit's setup, Bottas straightforwardly stated that he would say so. Having spent four successful seasons alongside Lewis Hamilton from 2017 to 2021, the Finnish driver possesses deep, firsthand knowledge of how the Silver Arrows operate behind closed doors.

Echoing similar sentiments, teammate Sergio Perez—drawing from his four-year tenure with Red Bull—admitted that the factory visit left him utterly astounded, noting he had never encountered anything quite like it throughout his career.

"We were at the factory, and it's very impressive. I've never seen a factory like this in my career. It's really, really impressive," Perez remarked following his detailed tour of the Silverstone manufacturing base.

Perez emphasized that the sheer newness of the equipment, digital platforms, and the immaculate organization connecting every single department stood out the most. While the Silverstone facility is fully operational, simultaneous construction continues across the Atlantic, anchored by a primary headquarters in Fishers, Indiana, and a dedicated powertrain division in North Carolina.

However, an ultra-modern factory does not automatically translate into immediate on-track reliability. Seventeen races into the season, Cadillac remains point-less, and Bottas has suffered eight retirements.

"We are definitely seeing an improvement somewhere every weekend. It's not necessarily in the results yet, but it's in how we operate as a team in different areas," Bottas explained, pointing out how practice and qualifying gremlins continually force the squad to prioritize damage limitation over raw performance.
