After sitting out media engagements on Thursday due to illness, Valtteri Bottas has finally addressed the persistent speculation surrounding his long-term future with the Cadillac Formula 1 team. Tension within the paddock intensified ahead of the Mexico City Grand Prix weekend at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, following the official confirmation that Sergio Perez had signed a contract extension keeping him with the outfit until at least 2029.
This major development immediately added fuel to the fire regarding the team's driver lineup for the upcoming campaign, casting doubt over the stability of the grid. Despite the intense psychological pressure and mounting paddock gossip, the veteran driver maintains that he remains relatively confident about securing a second consecutive season with the ambitious American-backed squad.
However, pressure continues to mount behind closed doors as reserve driver Colton Herta emerges as a realistic threat. Cadillac has been actively working alongside the American racer to help him finalize the necessary Super Licence points required to make a dramatic leap into the premier class next season.

Addressing the swirling rumors during media sessions, Bottas offered a measured and straightforward response. "I do not really have much to say about it. That is simply the situation, there are rumors everywhere. I have nothing really to say, but we will find out eventually," the Finnish driver remarked.
Elaborating on his contractual standing, he pointed out that the existing paperwork provides the foundation for his optimism. "Well, it would make logical sense to me. That is what it reads on paper, and that is precisely why I remain pretty confident. For me, it has always been crystal clear who is here for next year. Naturally, Checo has secured an extension, while I have not formalized a further extension just yet," he explained.
Bottas acknowledged that within a major corporate entity, key decisions often require high-level board validation across the Atlantic. "I am certain that in a large corporation there are always board meetings taking place. They hold the power to finalize these decisions, and I believe those resolutions will arrive very soon with the big bosses in the USA," he added.
Earlier speculation had briefly linked Esteban Ocon to a potential seat at Cadillac following the announcement of his departure from Haas. Nevertheless, subsequent reports quickly cooled down those links, cementing Herta as the primary candidate to challenge for a race seat if the team opts for a lineup shake-up following their maiden season.
