This high-profile acknowledgement comes while the Brackley squad continues to evaluate the true effectiveness of their latest upgrade package following a complex race weekend in Singapore.
The Silver Arrows previously faced hurdles in drawing reliable conclusions regarding their new components due to challenging track conditions. To accelerate their learning curve and gather concrete data, the team took the unusual step of splitting setups between their drivers. Kimi Antonelli ran the updated package featuring a new front wing, while George Russell remained on the older baseline configuration for comparative analysis.
Meanwhile, Red Bull has enjoyed a surge in performance driven by substantial updates introduced since the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, including revisions to the floor, diffuser, sidepods, mirrors, and halo designed to boost aerodynamic load. These strategic modifications have established the Milton Keynes outfit as the clear benchmark of the current grid.
Reflecting on their rivals' dominance, Wolff openly conceded to Motorsport.com: "Really you need to take your hat off to what Red Bull has done this season. How they have developed the car and how it's all come together as a package and then you put Max Verstappen in the car and when he feels that this thing is driving like he wants it to drive then you know these are the results."
Looking ahead, Wolff remains optimistic that once Mercedes successfully unlocks the intended performance window of their new aerodynamic parts, they can bridge the gap. He also emphasized that next season will undoubtedly feature an intense, full-scale battle at the front involving the reigning championship contenders.
