WRC World Champion Thierry Neuville has showcased his exceptional versatility by taking a stunning victory on his debut at a Le Mans Classic Series event held at Imola. The Belgian star, who competes regularly in the World Rally Championship for Hyundai, stepped away from gravel stages to race across different classes using a Ford Escort RS1600 alongside his own BMW E30 M3.
The intense weekend of racing began with Thursday's test sessions, which marked the very first opportunity for the rally ace to get behind the wheel of the M3 on a circuit. Despite the lack of extensive prior testing with the iconic touring car, his natural speed and rapid adaptation immediately turned heads within the historic paddock.
Sharing driving duties in the Ford Escort with circuit specialist Raphael de Borman, the dynamic duo enjoyed a remarkably successful campaign. Their stellar pace was evident from the start as they secured pole position during qualifying before converting that speed into an impressive race victory.

However, mixed fortunes awaited the world champion in his other entry. Having qualified an impressive second fastest in the BMW, his race aspirations were unfortunately cut short prematurely after a sudden technical problem forced a retirement on just the opening lap of the race.
Reflecting on the unique weekend, the rally star emphasized that he thoroughly enjoyed not only the thrill of driving classic machinery on a legendary circuit but also the vibrant atmosphere in the paddock. This outing adds another chapter to his circuit racing exploits, following his previous successes in the TCR class at the Nurburgring back in 2019.
