Silverstone's Unique MotoGP Win Streak Rests with Aprilia

Silverstone has a way of keeping MotoGP unpredictable. In the last 11 editions of the British Grand Prix at the former RAF base, 11 different riders from five manufacturers have claimed victory.

The streak began in 2013 when Jorge Lorenzo narrowly beat Marc Marquez. Marquez took revenge a year later, before Valentino Rossi delivered a wet-weather masterclass in 2015. Maverick Vinales ended Suzuki's drought in 2016, followed by Andrea Dovizioso (2017), Alex Rins (2019), Fabio Quartararo (2021), Pecco Bagnaia (2022), Aleix Espargaro (2023), Enea Bastianini (2024), and Marco Bezzecchi last year.

With five riders separated by just 24 points and eight within 65 points ahead of the 2026 British GP, Silverstone is the perfect stage for one of MotoGP's most unpredictable seasons in years.

Why have there been 11 different winners in 11 years? Riders offered theories: Franco Morbidelli pointed to rain, Alex Marquez recalled extreme condition changes between sprint and main race last year, and Joan Mir highlighted the wide track and high tyre wear.

Aprilia arrived as clear favourite and proved it. Bezzecchi smashed the lap record with a 1:56.280 in Practice, despite recovering from a broken collarbone and knee injury. The RS-GP was fastest in all four sectors, but Bezzecchi admitted his knee limits his race pace. Trackhouse's Raul Fernandez showed promise on medium tyres, leaving sprint strategy uncertain.

Ducati still has a chance, with Fabio Di Giannantonio third fastest, but Marc Marquez conceded Aprilia riders are more consistent. With 11 different winners, anything remains possible at Silverstone.
