The SYM ADXTG 400 proves that adventure doesn't always have to start on a big bike. With a 399cc engine and 35 hp, this crossover scooter is designed to blend the comfort of an automatic with the capability to go beyond the asphalt.

The concept is evident from the start. The ADXTG 400 comes with a 41mm inverted fork, SANYANG Multilink rear suspension, chain final drive, switchable traction control, and switchable rear ABS. Add to that a sump guard, handguards, and an adjustable screen—features that prove their worth when the road gets rough.

A Scooter Developed as a Crossover

SYM positioned the ADXTG 400 as a model specifically for the crossover segment. A diamond-type frame and aluminum triple-clamp handlebar were chosen to create a rigid, stable package without sacrificing scooter-like ease of riding. Its dimensions are those of a compact maxi scooter: 2,166 mm long, 920 mm wide, 1,460 mm tall, with a 1,535 mm wheelbase and a seat height of 790 mm. Kerb weight is 213 kg.

The bodywork has a distinctly adventurous look, but it's not just about style. The front features full LED lighting, and there are protective elements for both rider and scooter when venturing off the tarmac.

A 399cc Engine with 35 hp

The engine is a four-stroke, four-valve single with 399cc, liquid cooling, and electronic injection. It delivers 35 hp at 7,000 rpm and a peak torque of 37 Nm at 5,500 rpm. SYM's Hyper-VVS system manages valve timing variably, ensuring usable power at low revs and when chasing performance.

Two balance shafts help reduce vibrations—a key detail for a single of this size, especially since the ADXTG 400 is meant for longer journeys. The transmission is automatic CVT, so no clutch or manual shifting, but the mechanical setup is unusual: the final drive is a chain. The centrifugal clutch is oil-bathed.

Suspension Built for Rough Terrain

The chassis is where the ADXTG 400 truly differs from a standard scooter. Up front, a 41mm inverted fork with double clamps offers 140mm of travel. At the rear, a monoshock with adjustable preload uses a multilink design for added stability on broken roads or dirt.

With this combination of features and specs, the ADXTG 400 is not just a city scooter pretending to be adventurous. It's a serious package for those who want to start their adventure without giving up the practicality of a scooter.
