The controversial decision in Perth has finally reached its conclusion. Supercars has officially lost the appeal they filed regarding the absence of a penalty for Kai Allen over the minimum tyre pressure violation.
Previously, stewards in Perth decided not to penalize Allen, despite his car being proven to have violated the 16 psi minimum tyre pressure rule while on the grid for Sunday's race. That decision was made based on mitigating circumstances, but Supercars felt the need to appeal, considering it a matter of regulatory integrity.
Now, the National Court of Appeal has dismissed the appeal. The full judgment will be released within 14 days, and Supercars has seven days to decide whether to take the case to the FIA International Court of Appeal. However, such a move is considered unlikely; Supercars is instead expected to review their own regulations in the wake of this ruling.

Supercars CEO Barclay Nettlefold stated that the organization respects the appeal court's decision. "We brought the appeal because we believed it raised important issues regarding the conduct of stewards' hearings and the application of the rules that warranted consideration," he said. He also acknowledged the professionalism of Motorsport Australia and Grove Racing throughout the process.
In an official statement, Supercars reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining the integrity of the Championship and the consistent administration of the rules across all events. They also look forward to receiving the court's written reasons, which will serve as a basis for future evaluation.
Meanwhile, Grove Racing also reacted to the news. Team owner Stephen Grove said, "We acknowledge Monday's ruling and thank the court and its members for their time. The matter is now closed, and our full focus turns to Queensland Raceway and the battle for the Sprint Cup title."
With this case now concluded, attention turns to how Supercars will improve its regulations to prevent similar occurrences. This decision also serves as an important lesson for all teams about the importance of compliance with technical rules, while opening a discussion on how stewards handle similar cases in the future.
