Formula 1, Sportrik Media - The broadcast team at Sky Sports F1 has issued a series of bold predictions ahead of the 2026 Formula 1 season, highlighting several potential storylines that could unfold across the 24-race calendar.

The new campaign begins under a fresh set of technical regulations, with sweeping changes to both power units and aerodynamics reshaping the competitive landscape. The grid also features a new entrant, as American manufacturer Cadillac joins the championship.

Several key questions surround the upcoming season. Can McLaren and Lando Norris defend their titles? Will Max Verstappen secure a fifth drivers’ championship? And can Lewis Hamilton rediscover his strongest form with Ferrari?

Attention is also focused on Aston Martin, which has encountered several technical challenges early in the season, raising questions about its competitiveness during the opening rounds.

Among the predictions offered by the Sky Sports F1 team, lead commentator David Croft delivered one of the most striking forecasts.

“Now this might not come true, and it might not have any basis in fact whatsoever,” Croft said.

“But here is my bold prediction for 2026 — that by the time we reach the end of the season, Max Verstappen will not be a Red Bull driver.”

Croft acknowledged that his prediction was speculative rather than based on confirmed information.

“Where he’s going, I have no idea, but that’s my bold prediction.”

Other members of the Sky Sports F1 broadcast team offered different perspectives on how the season might unfold.

Technical analyst Bernie Collins and presenter Naomi Schiff both suggested that Mercedes driver George Russell could emerge as the 2026 world champion.

Meanwhile, 2009 Formula 1 world champion Jenson Button predicted a memorable moment for Fernando Alonso later in the season.

Button suggested that the Aston Martin driver could win a race late in the year, potentially becoming one of the oldest grand prix winners in Formula 1 history at the age of 45.

These predictions underline the uncertainty surrounding the first season under the new regulatory framework, where technical developments, team strategies, and driver performances could dramatically reshape the competitive order.

With a new team joining the grid and a major technical reset in place, the 2026 Formula 1 season is widely expected to deliver unpredictable outcomes across its global calendar.
