Looking ahead to the new era of Formula E for the 2026/2027 season, Jim Wright has confirmed that his leadership approach at the newly formed outfit will draw heavily from past racing heritage. As the newly appointed team principal following the acquisition of Penske Autosport's operations, he is using the legendary British figure as a benchmark for every major decision inside the garage.
A vast motorsport career spanning decades, including more than ten years working directly under the iconic open-wheel racing figure, has established a solid operational foundation. His formative years within the Grove-based squad provided deep insight into building a competitive, disciplined racing organization characterized by high standards across both technical and commercial departments.
"I've been in motorsport all my life," Jim Wright explained. "I'm a very lucky guy, and I've learned from some true icons of the sport, like Frank Williams, being alongside him, so I think the time is right to take on this role."
A decade spent coordinating the Formula E Teams and Manufacturers Association provided a comprehensive understanding of the global electric racing landscape. Supported by previous commercial stints across multiple racing outfits, he feels fully prepared to lead the squad into its next evolutionary phase under the corporate banner.
"I know Formula E inside out. I know what good looks like. I know what mediocre looks like. I know what bad looks like. And it's my job now to make sure that we create something which is really, really good," he detailed regarding the team's core vision.
The engineering lineage flowing through the organization also traces directly back to advanced technological assets originally built by the historic British racing outfit. With thorough preparations underway for the upcoming technical regulations, this experience-driven leadership aims to secure competitive success on the global electric racing stage.
