Red Bull team principal Laurent Mekies has firmly denied that serious discussions are currently taking place with any rival Formula 1 teams regarding the supply of power units, though he stopped short of completely ruling out the prospect for the distant future.

This clarification follows intense paddock speculation linking Aston Martin with a potential switch from Honda to Red Bull Powertrains (RBPT) power units as early as the 2028 season, amid a challenging start for the Silverstone squad's current Japanese partnership.

While Aston Martin chief trackside officer Mike Krack maintains full confidence in their current alliance heading towards their maiden grand prix victory, the initial teething troubles have naturally fueled widespread rumors across the pitlane.

Conversely, Red Bull's fresh collaboration with Ford has delivered surprisingly strong early returns. Their in-house internal combustion engine project has exceeded performance expectations, even establishing itself as a benchmark within the FIA's additional development and upgrade opportunities (ADUO) framework.

Addressing the 2028 rumors directly, Mekies acknowledged that their strong engine metrics have inevitably drawn inquisitive eyes from rival organizations, yet he stressed that Milton Keynes remains entirely internally focused for now.

"Look, we got a lot of unwanted positive publicity about the performance of our engine, and that certainly came with attention from a lot of teams," Laurent Mekies told media, including RacingNews365. "Are we having any serious conversations with anyone to supply another team? No. We don't feel we are ready for that. Is it set in stone for the next five years? No, because I don't know what's going to happen in the next five years."

Mekies reiterated that substantial development work remains before expanding their customer pool beyond Racing Bulls, ensuring no immediate supply changes will materialize in the near term.
