Raul Fernandez: Beating Marc Marquez in Aragon Is Tough

Raul Fernandez ended Friday at the Aragon GP sixth fastest. The Trackhouse rider is satisfied, even though he admits Motorland is not his favorite track.

Coming off a stunning win at Silverstone, Raul Fernandez arrived in Aragon with high confidence. However, he knows the new asphalt with low grip makes things trickier.

“Q2 is always the target. The issue is the feeling in Q2. The most important thing is getting into Q2. For better or worse, it always helps because we have more time to work,” Fernandez said as reported by Motosan.es.

He complained about rear grip issues today. “Usually I complain about the front, but today it's the rear. I can't get the rear tire to work well, whether soft or medium. Tomorrow we need to focus on that,” he explained.

There is a positive: teammate Marco Bezzecchi was fast. “He was very quick, we'll use his data. Without feeling comfortable yet being close on a track like Aragon is a good result,” he added.

Regarding chances of beating Marc Marquez in Aragon, Fernandez was blunt: “I don't think we can beat him yet. Comparing ourselves to Marc now is not fair, because we need to focus on extracting the best from our bike.”

He is happy to see three Aprilias in Q2. “That's good. Our bike has improved a lot, but it doesn't have an autopilot. There's a lot of hard work behind it,” he concluded.
