Despite growing reservations from riders, MotoGP looks set to host the upcoming Qatar Grand Prix next weekend, even as a sitting US senator issues a severe warning regarding an insane military escalation in the Middle East.

The Qatar Grand Prix was originally postponed from its traditional April slot due to the military conflict that broke out in February. The race was rescheduled for November 6-8, but the event has faced mounting uncertainty following renewed threats and recent attacks in Saudi Arabia.

Riders have held multiple meetings over the past week to address safety concerns regarding the trip to Qatar, while MotoGP executive Carlos Ezpeleta visited the Lusail circuit to seek concrete security assurances to ensure the grand prix goes ahead safely.

According to reports from paddock insiders, riders left a crucial meeting with series management under the strong impression that they will indeed be racing in Qatar despite their widespread reservations. While the conflict may not directly impact civilian infrastructure in the same manner as other Gulf states, the lingering threat of airspace closures remains a critical risk that could jeopardize the final rounds of the season.

Adding political weight to the tension, US Senator Chris Murphy issued a stark warning during a conference at the Middle East Institute regarding ongoing military planning. “In one of these briefings, we did get the chance to have a fairly detailed conversation about what the war plan would be if we restarted military operations,” Murphy stated, describing the potential strategy as devastating and counterproductive to regional security.

Amidst the growing tension, Lusail circuit CEO Abdulrahman Al Mannai released a statement following the inspection visit. “We welcomed MotoGP Deputy CEO Carlos Ezpeleta at Lusail International Circuit, where he was able to personally check the final stages of preparation for next week's grand prix. The countdown has begun, so we are ready to welcome the riders, teams, and fans to Qatar for another spectacular MotoGP race weekend,” Al Mannai concluded.
