Coming off the back of strong momentum earlier in the campaign, Pedro Acosta faced a surprisingly complex challenge during the Japanese Grand Prix at Motegi. Instead of fighting for podium glory, the Spanish sensation had to dig deep just to keep his machine on track and salvage a hard-fought seventh-place finish.
According to reports via Motosan.es, the young star admitted to dealing with an unusual behavioral issue involving his bike and tire combination. He confessed to lacking braking grip and having to adopt awkward physical postures just to slow the motorcycle down safely, a sensation completely foreign to his natural riding style.
The technical hiccups severely hampered his racecraft, particularly during wheel-to-wheel combat. Trying to map out a way past competitors like Raul Fernandez proved unusually taxing, robbing him of the decisive moves that usually define his explosive Sunday performances.
"It was hard for me to overtake, that is not like me," Acosta noted candidly, expressing his frustration at getting stuck in traffic without the necessary tools to make decisive passing maneuvers.
Despite the puzzling setup hurdles, the KTM camp finds solace in gathering crucial telemetry data. Securing seventh place serves as damage limitation while giving engineers plenty of homework to resolve before the paddock heads to the next round in Mandalika.
