Pedro Acosta successfully secured a fifth-place finish in the Sprint race at the Indonesian Grand Prix in Mandalika, despite battling severe technical hurdles with his RC16 machine throughout the entire weekend. The young Spanish rider admitted that finishing in the top five was the absolute maximum he could achieve following a complicated and challenging qualifying session.
Stability issues proved to be a major enemy for Acosta on the track throughout the Mandalika weekend. Whenever he tried to push the motorcycle to make up lost time, particularly in the second sector of the circuit, he suffered from violent shaking and had several close calls. Even so, he managed to salvage crucial points and proved that his raw racing pace remained competitive.
When asked about KTM's competitive performance compared to their closest rivals such as Ducati and Aprilia, Acosta provided a very objective analysis. According to him, the core issue is not that their machinery has regressed, but rather that their primary competitors have made much more aggressive technological leaps in grip and cornering speed.

As reported by Motosan.es, Acosta emphasized that he and his team are actually faster than they were last season using largely the same equipment. However, Aprilia's impressive consistency across all four riders and Ducati's overall dominance have made the battle at the sharp end of the grid increasingly difficult to bridge.
Looking ahead to the main race on Sunday, Acosta aims to improve his starting position to unlock a better chance of fighting closer to the podium spots. With the promising race pace demonstrated during the Sprint, he hopes to find a setup solution for his stability issues and challenge the front-runners.
