MotoGP, Sportrik Media - Double world champion Francesco Bagnaia has revealed that his plans for the 2027 MotoGP season will be announced in the coming days, amid strong links to a move to Aprilia Racing.
Bagnaia’s future has been a central topic in the paddock following reports that Ducati Lenovo Team secured a renewed deal with Marc Marquez and moved to recruit Pedro Acosta for its long-term factory project. The developments cast doubt over Bagnaia’s continuation with the Italian manufacturer, despite delivering world titles in 2022 and 2023.
Earlier in the off-season, Bagnaia had been linked with a potential switch to Yamaha. However, in recent days, speculation has intensified around a deal that would see him join Aprilia’s factory squad in place of Jorge Martin, who is widely reported to be heading to Yamaha for 2027.

Speaking during the Buriram pre-season test, Bagnaia stopped short of confirming his destination but made it clear a decision has been taken.
“I’m fully focused on the test and on the first race,” Bagnaia said.
“In a few days, all of the announcements of all the teams will come. So, wait for mine.”
When pressed on whether that meant he had made up his mind, he responded: “Yeah, I’ve just decided…”
Aprilia has already confirmed a two-year contract extension for Marco Bezzecchi through 2027, further fuelling speculation about the potential composition of its future factory line-up.
On track, Bagnaia’s 2026 preparations appear more stable than the previous winter. He concluded the opening day of the Buriram test in 10th position but completed an encouraging sprint simulation aboard the new GP26 Ducati.
He admitted that a final decision on the aerodynamic package to homologate for the start of the season remains pending, particularly regarding the fairing tested earlier in Malaysia.
“Compared to last year, much better,” Bagnaia said.
“Last year, on the first day of the test, it was very difficult. Today, from the start, I felt better with the new bike.”
“We were able to plan the day well and work efficiently. Today was important to remove some doubts about the fairing we had in Malaysia.”
“I did a sprint simulation at the end of the day to understand if it was working well or not.”
“I still have some doubts. Tomorrow I will complete a long run simulation, and then we have to decide which fairing I will use.”
With both a career-defining contract decision and key technical evaluations underway, Bagnaia enters a pivotal phase that will shape not only his 2027 future but also his immediate competitiveness for the upcoming MotoGP campaign.
