Nissan has officially unveiled the PIXO, a pure electric city car designed specifically for the European market. This marks a significant step for Nissan in the A-segment, which has long been dominated by fossil-fuel vehicles. With a compact yet spacious design, the PIXO promises an efficient and modern urban driving experience.
Technically, the PIXO features the latest generation LFP (Lithium Ferro Phosphate) battery. This is the first time Nissan has used this type of battery in a model sold in Europe. LFP batteries are known for being more durable and safer, though they have slightly lower energy density than conventional lithium-ion batteries. However, thanks to advanced thermal management, the PIXO can offer a range of up to 259 km on a single charge.
Charging is one of the main highlights. Nissan equips the PIXO with a 50 kW DC fast charger as standard across all variants. With this charger, the battery can go from 15% to 80% in just 28 minutes. Additionally, an 11 kW AC charger is also standard. This combination makes the PIXO practical for daily use, whether at home or at public charging stations.
In terms of dimensions, the PIXO measures 3,796 mm in length and 1,790 mm in width. Despite its compact size, the cabin is designed to provide ample space. Nissan has included sliding rear seats, adding flexibility for carrying passengers or cargo. The trunk is also generous: 356 liters, including a 50-liter compartment for charging cables. There is also 18 liters of storage space throughout the cabin.
The One Pedal technology is a signature feature that makes city driving easier. With this system, the driver can accelerate and decelerate using just one pedal, reducing fatigue in traffic. In addition, the infotainment system is integrated with Google and Gemini AI, providing advanced connectivity and a responsive voice assistant. This feature aligns with the trend of modern electric cars increasingly prioritizing digital experience.
For maneuverability, the PIXO has a turning radius of less than 10 meters, making it very agile in tight spaces. Its maximum power output is 60 kW, sufficient for a city car. Nissan has not yet announced pricing and market-specific details, but European consumers can start looking forward to its arrival. First deliveries are scheduled for 2027, with pricing announcements beginning in December.
With the PIXO, Nissan aims to strengthen its position in the increasingly competitive European electric vehicle market. This model will compete with other electric city cars such as the Fiat 500e, Renault Twingo ZE, and Mini Electric. The PIXO's arrival also demonstrates Nissan's commitment to electrification, following the success of the Leaf and Ariya. We look forward to seeing how the market responds.
