Moto3 Silverstone: Almansa Wins as Uriarte Crashes on Last Lap

David Almansa proved to be the smartest in Moto3 by taking victory at Silverstone on Sunday. The IntactGP rider capitalized on a mistake from Brian Uriarte, who crashed on the final lap, further strengthening his position in the championship.

This race felt different from the start. Maximo Quiles, the championship leader, was absent after suffering a collarbone fracture in yesterday's Q2 crash. Without his main rival, Almansa immediately hit the gas from second on the grid and led the pack from the first corner.

Tension was high in the early laps. Almansa, Uriarte, and several other riders exchanged positions, forming a typical Moto3 group. But mid-race, drama unfolded. Adrian Cruces, celebrating his birthday, crashed after contact with O’Gorman. This incident led to a long lap penalty for O’Gorman.

Local rider Scott Ogden also suffered a highside at the final corner, and Cormac Buchanan was forced out due to a technical issue. Meanwhile, up front, Almansa continued to lead with a slim margin, followed by Carpe, Uriarte, and Adrian Fernandez.

As the final three laps approached, the battle intensified. Almansa remained solid, while Uriarte tried everything to close in. However, on the last lap, Uriarte crashed while attempting a pass, ruining his podium chances. Almansa cruised to victory, with Alvaro Carpe and Perrone joining him on the podium.

With this result, Almansa extended his championship lead, taking advantage of Quiles' absence. This win also sends a strong signal to his team to keep fighting at the top. For Uriarte, it was a bitter pill to swallow, losing crucial points that could have moved him up the standings.
