German automotive giant Mercedes-Benz has achieved a major milestone in the global automotive landscape after registering the highest quarterly volume of battery electric vehicles in the company's history during the third quarter. Based on the official report published by the manufacturer, this remarkable performance was strongly driven by robust growth across European and North American markets, successfully offsetting varying dynamics in other global regions.
Overall, electrified models now represent a substantial share of the business, with roughly one out of every four vehicles sold globally during the third quarter coming in the form of a plug-in hybrid or a pure BEV. Mathias Geisen, Head of Sales and Customer Experience at Mercedes-Benz, highlighted that this triumph stems directly from the immense appeal of their latest product offensive.
“We recorded the highest quarterly sales volume of battery electric vehicles in the company’s history, driven by the electric GLC SUV, whose sales more than tripled compared to the second quarter,” Geisen stated, emphasizing the sheer momentum behind their latest generation of sustainable mobility solutions.

The unprecedented surge in consumer demand has led to a complete sell-out of key models such as the electric GLC alongside the CLA, GLB, and GLA vehicle families across Europe for the remainder of 2026. Order books are currently filled to the extent that production capacity is secured well into next year, prompting manufacturing plants located in Bremen, Rastatt, and Kecskemet to operate on rigorous three-shift schedules to keep pace with incoming orders.
Taking a comprehensive look at the group's quarterly figures, Mercedes-Benz Group successfully delivered a combined total of 491.700 passenger cars and vans. Specifically looking at battery electric vehicles across both passenger cars and vans, sales jumped by 52 percent, while passenger car BEV deliveries alone soared by an impressive 61 percent compared to the corresponding period from the previous year.
