Max Verstappen has no intention of slowing down once his Formula 1 career comes to an end. The four-time world champion has set his sights on a future in endurance racing, and he is not shy about it.

The Red Bull Racing driver has long been associated with the endurance world. Away from his F1 duties, he often competes in virtual races on his simulator, and earlier this year he made his real-world debut at the 24 Hours of Nurburgring. That experience, it turns out, was just the beginning.

"All the endurance races," Verstappen answered when asked what else is on his bucket list in an interview with BBC Sport. "Eventually, of course also Hypercar [the world endurance championship]. I don't want to rush it. I want to do it in the right environment. On my terms. And competitive."

Max Verstappen's F1 contract now runs until the end of 2030, but beyond that, he already envisions his future elsewhere. One of his biggest dreams is to compete at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the most prestigious endurance race in the world.

However, Verstappen is not interested in a mere participation. He wants a realistic shot at victory. "It needs to make sense. It needs to be on my terms. And there needs to be a real chance to go there and win it," he insisted.

Talk of a potential partnership with Fernando Alonso at Le Mans has surfaced. Verstappen admitted they have discussed it, but scheduling conflicts could get in the way. "We've talked about it. I mean, look at Fernando," Verstappen said. "He's 45 and he's still flying. Especially for Le Mans, with his experience, it could be a good option. It needs to fit our schedules."

Verstappen's interest in endurance racing is nothing new. Before competing at the Nurburgring, he underwent intense practice at the challenging Nordschleife circuit. Now, he insists that experience is only the start of his bigger plans for the future.
