Max Verstappen is set to make his long-awaited debut in GT World Challenge Europe this weekend at the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve. The Formula 1 superstar is stepping in to drive after a rescheduling clash in the World Endurance Championship opened up a spot in the lineup.
With regular drivers Daniel Juncadella and Jules Gounon forced to compete at the rescheduled WEC round in Barcelona, the door opened for the reigning F1 champion to take the wheel of the Mercedes-AMG GT3 for the season finale.
Verstappen will share the #3 car alongside regular teammate and sim racing friend Chris Lulham, as well as reserve driver Ben Barnicoat. This appearance marks his first time behind the wheel of a GT3 machine since competing in the Nurburgring 24 Hours.

While the championship standings in the Endurance Cup are already settled in favor of the Winward Racing crew, the primary focus remains firmly fixed on Verstappen's performance. His participation is anticipated to bring unprecedented media attention and global viewership to the championship finale.
Furthermore, the event sets up a fascinating clash of motorsport titans as Verstappen shares the grid with MotoGP legend Valentino Rossi, who campaigns the #46 BMW. The three-hour race is scheduled to run into dusk, providing a unique and atmospheric setting for the final showdown of the season.
