Max Verstappen has finally settled his Formula 1 future. The Dutch driver has signed a new contract with Red Bull that will keep him at the team until the end of the 2030 season, putting an end to the speculation that had been swirling around his potential departure from the Milton Keynes-based outfit.
The new deal is a two-year extension on top of his existing agreement, which was due to run until 2028. This means Verstappen will have spent 15 full seasons with Red Bull in F1 by the time the contract expires, having been promoted from Toro Rosso midway through 2016. The announcement also quells the lingering doubts about his future, especially after he had voiced his dislike for the new generation of cars and shown interest in other racing disciplines.
The news was released just ahead of the Dutch Grand Prix this weekend, which marks Verstappen's final home race at Zandvoort. The timing feels symbolic, as if reaffirming his loyalty to the team that has shaped his career and delivered four consecutive world titles.

In an official statement, Verstappen expressed his delight at the extension, emphasizing that the team's primary goal remains the same: to get back to the top. "We have the best people and I'm excited to keep working together with everyone to get back to the top again. This remains the ultimate goal that all of us have been working towards and will continue to pursue," he said.
He also praised his working relationship with team principal Laurent Mekies, noting the clear vision Mekies has for the team. "Getting to work with Laurent now for over a year has also been great. I see a clear vision he has for the team. Everyone in Milton Keynes believes in what we are building," Verstappen added.
Laurent Mekies, who now leads Red Bull, welcomed Verstappen's decision, stating that retaining the best driver on the grid is fantastic news for the team, F1, and motorsport as a whole. "Very few partnerships in sport achieve what Max and this team have. Since the very beginning, Max has embodied everything that makes Oracle Red Bull Racing special," Mekies said.
With this new contract, Verstappen is set to be part of F1's new era starting in 2026, when new engine regulations come into play. This long-term commitment also provides Red Bull with stability in planning technical strategies and car development for the coming seasons, while underlining that Verstappen remains the cornerstone of the team's championship ambitions.
