MotoGP, Sportrik Media - Marco Bezzecchi of Aprilia Racing reported that familiar technical issues reappeared during Friday practice at the 2026 Spanish MotoGP in Jerez.
Bezzecchi finished the day third fastest, around half a second behind session leader Alex Marquez, who held a clear advantage over the field. Despite the competitive position, the Italian indicated that underlying challenges affected overall performance.
“It went quite well,” Bezzecchi said to Sky Sport Italy.

“It was tough because, especially with the soft tyre, this is a track with naturally high grip. Some problems we had in the past came back, and it wasn’t easy.”
He explained that the high-grip characteristics of the Jerez circuit amplified certain limitations of the RS-GP, making it more difficult to maintain consistent performance across laps.
“But overall, it went a bit better than expected. Now we have to keep working hard to improve further,” he added.
The focus for Saturday is therefore centred on extracting more performance from both rider and machine, with continued overnight work seen as critical.
“The goal is clearly to improve. We’ll approach the weekend as always—working hard every evening and trying to improve in every area, both on my side in terms of riding and on the bike side from the guys in the garage,” Bezzecchi explained.
He was also asked about tyre strategy for Sunday’s race, particularly the potential use of the soft rear compound. Bezzecchi indicated that it remains a viable option, depending on temperature conditions.
“In my opinion, yes, it’s possible,” he said.
“This is a track with good grip, so tyre wear is not very high. Temperatures are expected to rise, but if conditions were like today in a long race, it would be a good problem because both tyre options are competitive.”
Despite the re-emergence of known issues, Bezzecchi remains within the leading group heading into qualifying. The effectiveness of Aprilia’s overnight adjustments will be crucial in determining whether the team can sustain its front-running form as the 2026 Spanish MotoGP weekend progresses.
