MotoGP, Sportrik Media – Rider Marc Marquez from Ducati Lenovo Team etched history by securing his 9th world title (7th in premier class) in the 2025 MotoGP season, while his brother Alex Marquez from Gresini Racing finished runner-up, marking the first sibling 1-2 in championship standings.
The 2025 season stands as one of the most phenomenal in MotoGP history, with the Marquez brothers dominating the top positions. However, their rivalry remained fiercely professional without compromises.
Marc Marquez amassed around 545 points with 11 grand prix wins and 14 sprint victories. Furthermore, he clinched the title at Motegi, Japan, with five races remaining.
Alex Marquez shone brightly on a year-older bike, claiming several podiums and wins to gather approximately 467 points for second place.
This became the first time in Grand Prix motorcycle racing history that siblings finished 1-2 in the premier class championship.
The duo agreed to a professional pact from season start to race aggressively without special treatment on track.
“This season is one of the best in my career because my main rival was my own brother,” Marc Marquez reflected.
He also noted their mother's support often favored Alex in family jokes.
Looking to 2026, Marc Marquez openly stated he would be thrilled if Alex Marquez won his first title.
“I would be happier seeing Alex champion than my own title,” he said.
Yet, Marc emphasized no "free passes" and aims for a 10th crown.
Deeper analysis shows 2026 will be even more exciting as Alex Marquez receives the latest factory-spec GP26 at Gresini Racing, equal to Marc's machine in the factory team.
This provides matching weapons for the title fight.
On the other hand, Ducati's dominance continues with a sixth straight constructors' title. Additionally, satellite teams like Gresini demonstrate huge potential with factory support.
The Marquez family's future prospects are bright, with healthy competition potentially creating more history on track.
