As the MotoGP 2026 World Championship reaches its dramatic final stretch, the battle for the coveted world title intensifies both on the asphalt and in the media paddock. Marc Marquez, who has dramatically clawed his way back to the championship summit following a stellar run of consistency and capitalizing on rival errors, has firmly drawn the line regarding psychological warfare through the press.
The 2026 season script took unexpected turns after the Catalan rider faced a major setback following his Le Mans crash and subsequent right arm surgery. However, a series of costly mistakes from Marco Bezzecchi and Jorge Martin allowed the Ducati star to reclaim the championship lead through precise riding, extracting maximum points from favorable tracks while limiting damage elsewhere.
Entering the critical closing rounds, stakes are naturally at an all-time high, prompting sharper remarks in front of television cameras and microphones. Despite the mounting pressure, the nine-time world champion insists he will steer clear of utilizing strategic media tactics to destabilize his opponents, distancing himself from the playbook famously utilized by past legends.

Speaking candidly in an interview with Autosport, Marquez reflected on the nature of media influence within the sport. He acknowledged that while prominent media leverage is earned strictly through historic track performances, deploying it as a weapon against fellow competitors crosses an ethical boundary he refuses to cross.
“If you can command the power of the media, it is because you have earned it through results in the past, but I will never use the power of the media against another rider,” Marc Marquez stated during the interview.
Elaborating further, the veteran rider noted that any historical instance of utilizing press engagement was purely for personal peace of mind within a high-stress environment rather than an intentional psychological assault on championship rivals. “At most I would use the media, and I have already done so in the past, for my own personal benefit. Not necessarily to gain a financial or mental advantage, but to be able to stay calmer. But, I repeat, I will never use the media against another rider,” he concluded.
