Marc Marquez returns to Motegi carrying strong memories after the Japanese circuit became the place where he completed his 2025 MotoGP title journey. However, ahead of the 2026 Japanese Grand Prix, Marc insists the situation is different this year.
Speaking on October 1, 2026, Marc looked back on the significant moment he experienced at Motegi one year ago. He described that weekend as the completion of a journey that still had an unfinished chapter.
“Last year here, well, and I said it and I'll say it again, I closed the circle that I had pending and it was a great, great weekend of great emotions,” Marc said.

Motegi therefore brings back positive memories for Marc, but he does not believe that last year's experience means the 2026 weekend will follow the same path.
“But this year it is different,” he stressed.
Marc's objective remains to continue fighting for the world championship. He considers the most important factor to be that he is still involved in the title battle for another season.
“The important thing is that we keep fighting one more year for the title, that we are in the hunt,” Marc explained.
The memories from Motegi remain an important part of Marc's relationship with the circuit. However, he does not believe that those memories automatically make the challenge easier or more difficult this time around.
“We will see a circuit that brings back good memories, but this doesn't mean it will be easier or harder,” he said.
Marc is therefore choosing to separate his 2025 experience at Motegi from the challenge awaiting him in 2026. The circuit may bring back memories of a defining championship moment, but this year's title fight will be shaped by what happens on track this weekend.
