WRC, Sportrik Media - M-Sport has acquired Custom Cages to strengthen its supply chain and create new opportunities for technical collaboration ahead of the 2027 WRC regulations. The agreement deepens a relationship between the two companies that has lasted for more than three decades.
Founded in 1985, Custom Cages has developed into one of the United Kingdom’s leading manufacturers of roll cages and tubular structures. The company has designed and produced components for the FIA World Rally Championship, World Touring Car Championship, British Touring Car Championship and Dakar Rally.
Custom Cages has served as an M-Sport supplier since 2005, although the working relationship between the companies began more than 30 years ago. Closer integration will allow M-Sport to protect the continuity of critical components, particularly in tubular fabrication and chassis-structure production across its racing programmes.

“This acquisition is a natural next step in a relationship built on shared standards and mutual trust,” said M-Sport chairman Malcolm Wilson.
The strategic value of the agreement extends beyond securing a supplier. Custom Cages is also active across GT3, touring car and rally programmes worldwide, giving the combined businesses an opportunity to establish new commercial relationships and broaden M-Sport’s customer base.
Custom Cages’ expertise in tube fabrication and chassis manufacturing is also relevant as the WRC prepares to introduce new regulations in 2027. The technical transition will create new requirements in competition-car design, construction and production, while M-Sport seeks to ensure its internal capacity can respond to the championship’s next phase.
“With the new WRC regulations coming into force in 2027, I feel now is the right time to hand over the reins,” said outgoing Custom Cages director Roger Nevitt.
Nevitt believes M-Sport’s additional support can provide a stronger foundation for the future of Custom Cages. For M-Sport, the acquisition secures a production capability that has supported its motorsport operations for decades while creating further growth opportunities as preparations for the 2027 WRC era intensify.
