The 2026 racing campaign came to a premature halt for Loris Veneman following a nasty crash and subsequent arm injury during the World Sportbike weekend in Cremona. Forced to watch the final stages of the championship from the sidelines, the Dutch rider opens up about his unexpected recovery progress and his absolute determination to line up on the grid once again for the 2027 season.
Reflecting on his rehabilitation, the young talent admitted that his physical recovery is tracking ahead of initial medical expectations. Although certain movements still feel slightly unusual, the overall pain has significantly decreased, allowing him to regain much of his arm mobility much faster than anticipated during the difficult weeks following the accident.
Being forced to sit out the concluding rounds of the year presented a mental hurdle for a competitor wired to race. Nevertheless, making the trip to the paddock in Jerez served a dual purpose: meeting with prospective sponsors and supporting teammate Xavi Artigas in his successful quest to secure the championship title amidst a celebratory weekend atmosphere.
Despite the joy of sharing the team's championship success, the broader reality of a misfortune-heavy 2026 campaign remains a hurdle in the background. With only managing to finish roughly half of the scheduled races due to circumstances beyond pure performance, securing future opportunities has required navigating skepticism from observers who only look at raw results.
Looking ahead, the adversity faced throughout the year has only strengthened his resolve. Armed with renewed clarity and a healing body, the focus is now squarely fixed on putting the setbacks behind and executing a strong comeback campaign when the gates drop for 2027.
