Formula 1, Sportrik Media - Liam Lawson believes recent technical appointments have strengthened Racing Bulls as the team prepares for the 2026 Formula 1 season.
The Faenza-based outfit has continued to reinforce its technical structure in recent years, with the latest addition being Dan Fallows, who will join the team in April as its new technical director.
Fallows will work alongside several key figures within Racing Bulls’ technical department, including Tim Goss, who joined the team over two years ago as chief technical officer, and team principal Alan Permane.

Permane was promoted to the role of team principal midway through last season after initially joining the organisation around the same time as Goss as racing director.
The recruitment of Fallows represents another high-profile addition to the team. The British engineer previously spent many years at Red Bull as chief engineer and head of aerodynamics before moving to Aston Martin in 2022 to serve as technical director, a role he held for two seasons.
Lawson believes these appointments demonstrate that Racing Bulls is continuing to strengthen its technical foundation as it aims to take another step forward both on and off the track.
“Honestly, it’s something that we as drivers don’t have a huge amount of involvement in,” Lawson said when speaking to media, including RacingNews365.
“Obviously we trust the decisions made behind the scenes on the team side.”
According to the New Zealander, the day-to-day operations within the team have remained largely unchanged despite the arrival of new senior technical personnel.
“Operationally everything is very similar to how it was before.”
However, Lawson acknowledged that the arrival of new specialists over the past few seasons has had a positive impact on the team’s overall development.
“In the last couple of years we’ve had some new people come on board, and that’s been pretty powerful for us.”
“Going into a new season it’s very valuable to have these guys.”
Lawson also feels better prepared heading into the 2026 campaign after completing a full pre-season programme with the team.
Despite that, he recognises that the introduction of new technical regulations means there is still a significant learning process ahead.
“The cars are completely new, so there is still a lot for us to learn.”
The Racing Bulls driver emphasised that understanding the car quickly will be crucial for the team’s development throughout the season.
“From a development perspective it’s going to be very important for us to get a handle on the car as quickly as possible.”
On a personal level, Lawson believes he is entering the new season in a stronger position compared to the previous year, when he experienced a turbulent period after being promoted to Red Bull before returning to Racing Bulls.
“It’s good to have had a full pre-season and to understand the direction we’re going with the car and its development.”
Lawson concluded that he is now focused on returning to the track and beginning the new campaign.
“I’m just looking forward to getting on track and getting things started.”
