When the roaring engines of Formula 1 quiet down in Austin, Liam Lawson is set to trade his racing cockpit for an acoustic guitar. The New Zealand driver is confirmed to headline the Garage Sessions hosted by the Racing Bulls team ahead of the upcoming United States Grand Prix weekend.
Lawson's passion for country music is hardly a secret within the paddock. Throughout his career in the pinnacle of motorsport, the team has frequently shared clips of the Kiwi's musical background. During summer breaks, he has often posted photos and clips showcasing his love for playing the guitar.
Although the young driver's future on the grid remains unconfirmed amid lingering rumors linking junior driver Nikola Tsolov to an F1 seat, Lawson is temporarily putting aside his driving duties to entertain fans on Thursday evening.
Taking place at Inn Cahoots in Austin, the event also marks the launch of an exciting partnership with Taylor Guitars. Lawson will perform using a custom LL30 GS Mini Special Edition guitar, featuring pink-and-white aesthetics adorned with his racing number and helmet cartoon.
"I feel very proud to be launching my partnership with Taylor Guitars at Garage Sessions," Lawson stated regarding the collaboration. He explained that playing the instrument has been a massive part of his life since childhood, heavily influenced by his father who played in a band.
For the Kiwi driver, sharing the stage with his brother and two childhood friends feels like a full-circle moment. He emphasized that music serves as his ultimate outlet to clear his head during intense racing seasons, allowing him to connect with supporters outside the demanding track environment.
Lawson will not be performing alone, as the lineup also features prominent acts like Drake Milligan, Jonathon Capeci, Scoot Teasley, and Jess Farren, ensuring an unforgettable night of entertainment for racing and music enthusiasts alike in Texas.
