Liam Lawson Highlights Racing Bulls' Major Step Forward

Liam Lawson has highlighted the major transformation Racing Bulls has made since the start of the season as the team continues its strong run in Formula 1's midfield fight.

The Red Bull sister squad has become a regular points scorer this year. The Miami Grand Prix remains the only race in which Racing Bulls failed to finish inside the top 10, while the team currently sits sixth in the constructors' championship.

Racing Bulls is just one point behind Alpine in a tightly contested midfield battle. The team's rise has also mirrored Lawson's own recovery in form after a turbulent 2025 campaign, when he was briefly promoted to Red Bull before being moved back to Racing Bulls.

Asked how he has helped push the team forward this year, Lawson stressed that the progress has not come from one major change, but from regular procedures being executed more consistently from an early stage.

“Honestly, very normal procedures, we do the normal amount of simulator work in the background,” Lawson told media including RacingNews365.

“Maybe we spend a little bit of extra time as well in Faenza, especially earlier in the year. The development this year starts very, very early.”

“We started working on this year's car last year, and then in January, we were doing a lot of development.”

With car development a critical performance factor at the start of a new regulation cycle, Lawson said Racing Bulls has made a major step from the pre-season test in Barcelona to returning there for a race weekend.

“From where we started, where our car started in Barcelona, the pre-season test has come a very, very long way,” Lawson said.

“It was quite amazing to drive the race weekend in Barcelona and have a comparison to what we had at the start of the year and how far the car has come.”

Lawson gave major credit to the team for that improvement, but emphasised that Racing Bulls' form is not the result of one specific area. Instead, he pointed to preparation, working procedures and race-weekend execution as the foundation of its points-scoring consistency.

“So a big credit to the team, but it's a combination of things, and nothing that's super specific,” Lawson said.

“Just working on all the procedures to make sure we're prepared, and for me personally, trying to execute as well as I can on a race weekend.”

Racing Bulls' form has now become one of the key markers in the midfield battle, with Lawson and the team aiming to maintain their points-scoring trend as the constructors' fight moves into the next phase of the season.
