Formula 1, Sportrik Media - Lewis Hamilton shared a light-hearted story ahead of the 2026 Australian Grand Prix at Albert Park Circuit after revealing that one of his pet cows is called “Max,” prompting laughter from fans attending a public event in Melbourne.
The Scuderia Ferrari driver quickly clarified that the name was not his own choice. Hamilton explained that the cow already had the name when he adopted it, dismissing any suggestion that it was linked to rival Max Verstappen of Red Bull Racing.
The moment occurred during a fan event at Albert Park when a picture of one of Hamilton’s cows appeared on screen. The seven-time world champion immediately addressed the coincidence surrounding the animal’s name.

“Oh yeah, this is my cow. His name is Max. I didn’t name him,” Hamilton said.
“I inherited him, by the way. His name is Max. I swear on my life, I swear on my life.”
Hamilton explained that he runs a small farm and adopted the cows with their names already assigned. Alongside Max, he also owns another cow named Hombre.
“I have like a farm, and I inherited — I adopted him basically. And his name is Max. And I have another one called Hombre.”
The two animals have become particularly meaningful to Hamilton following the loss of his beloved dog Roscoe last year. Roscoe was a familiar presence in the Formula 1 paddock and became a fan favourite after frequently appearing alongside Hamilton during race weekends.
“They’re the softest. They’re like the new Roscoe for me,” Hamilton added.
Hamilton’s appearance in Melbourne forms part of preparations for the opening round of the 2026 Formula 1 season, where the Ferrari driver is targeting a strong start as he begins a new chapter with the Italian team.
