Lando Norris has openly expressed his frustration with the car's performance following a dramatic and challenging Bahrain Grand Prix. The British driver admitted that a persistent straightline speed disadvantage is costing him crucial lap time during every single circuit tour.
This technical limitation is estimated to drain nearly two-tenths of a second per lap, putting McLaren under immense pressure to find immediate solutions ahead of the upcoming races. The Woking-based squad must address these aerodynamic and power unit hurdles swiftly to remain competitive against their closest rivals.

The race in Bahrain was already compromised early on when Norris dropped to 16th due to a suboptimal tyre strategy choice. Compounding his woes, a miscalculation during a Safety Car restart forced him off-track into the gravel, destroying any hopes of a straightforward recovery.

While acknowledging his own mistakes on track, Norris emphasized that the performance deficit makes life exceptionally difficult over a full race distance. Team-mate Oscar Piastri managed a solid sixth-place finish, whereas Norris had to salvage two points with a ninth-place result.
