This strategic move highlights the reigning Formula 1 champion's keen eye for lucrative commercial ventures outside the intense atmosphere of the grand prix paddock.
According to Motorsport.com, the star driver for McLaren participated in a £20 million financing round that successfully closed this year. While the exact personal financial contribution and equity stake held by the British driver remain undisclosed, his involvement adds substantial star power to the enterprise.
Seat Unique operates a specialized digital marketplace providing licensed premium seating for high-end sporting and entertainment events. Their impressive portfolio includes exclusive ticketing distribution rights for major spectacles such as UEFA Euro 2028 and high-profile heavyweight boxing bouts. Given the luxurious hospitality ecosystem embedded within Formula 1, investing in this market is a natural fit for the racing star.
The investment was channeled through The Players' Fund, a venture capital vehicle managed by professional athletes that previously attracted high-profile names like Harry Kane and Ben Stokes. Nickleby Capital led the funding round, which also boasts prominent figures like Stuart Broad and actor Daniel Kaluuya among its stakeholders.
Seat Unique CEO Robin Sherry praised the partnership, stating, "The way fans experience live events has fundamentally changed. People want official access, unforgettable moments and complete confidence in how they buy them - that's exactly what we've built Seat Unique to deliver." Sherry added regarding the driver's involvement: "Lando understands that better than anyone, which is why having him join us as an investor is such a powerful endorsement of where this business is heading." The company is now aggressively targeting a £500 million valuation through targeted acquisitions and worldwide partnerships.
