Lando Norris has officially extended his contract with McLaren until at least 2030. The announcement was made by the Woking-based team on Saturday morning, reinforcing the reigning Formula 1 world champion's long-term commitment to the squad that nurtured his career.
The new agreement includes multi-year options that could keep Norris at the team even longer. He personally shared the news with McLaren factory staff during the team's annual family and friends open day. "McLaren is my home, and I'm very pleased to be signing a new contract to keep me with the team until at least 2030," Norris said.
This extension underscores Norris' status as a cornerstone of McLaren. His previous deal ran until the end of 2027, meaning this new contract adds at least four more years to his tenure. His teammate, Oscar Piastri, remains under contract until 2028 after extending his deal at the start of last year.

The timing of this decision is significant. After securing his first world championship last season, the British driver has been consistent in the first half of 2026, capitalizing on McLaren's car upgrades to win the last two grands prix in Hungary and the Netherlands. This strong form provides a solid foundation for Norris to continue competing at the front.
As a token of appreciation, McLaren also gifted Norris the MCL39 car that carried him to the 2025 title. This move highlights the team's immense trust in the driver, both on and off the track.
Team principal Andrea Stella expressed his delight at continuing to work with Norris. "He is an exceptional driver, someone who combines outstanding natural speed with maturity, consistency and a strong commitment to McLaren, but above all, he is a special human being who is valued by everyone in the team," Stella said.
With this extension, McLaren solidifies its lineup with the Norris-Piastri duo, widely regarded as one of the strongest partnerships on the grid. Stella emphasized that this continuity boosts the team's confidence for the future. "With him and Oscar, we know we can count not only on one of the strongest partnerships but also on one of the most united and close-knit teams in Formula 1," he added.
