However, that same raw candor has frequently subjected him to heavy criticism. During his intense 2025 championship battle alongside Max Verstappen, his attitude and paddock remarks drew significant scrutiny. His most notable backlash stemmed from comments directed at Franco Colapinto after a collision in Baku, where the McLaren star claimed the Argentine should not be in Formula 1 and suggested race bans for such incidents, though he later apologized.
Tensions flared again just weeks later following a controversial sprint race collision with teammate Oscar Piastri at the Singapore Grand Prix. A snappy interview exchange with Viaplay quickly went viral, showing the reigning contender offering a sarcastic retort when questioned by a reporter about whether his bold overtaking attempt was worth the risk during a sprint event.
Reflecting on his media outbursts during a conversation with Martin Brundle, Norris opened up about his genuine regrets and confessed that he often spends hours questioning his choice of words after returning home. He emphasized his profound dislike for potentially disrespecting anyone through his unfiltered remarks.
“I’m not the best in front of the media sometimes. I hate the fact that when I say the wrong things, or I might disrespect someone when I say something, I hate that,” Norris stated. While Brundle attempted to comfort him by highlighting that fans adore his openness, Norris insisted that maintaining mutual respect remains an absolute boundary.
