The Formula 1 race weekend at the Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace Interlagos immediately delivered high tension right from the opening day. Newly crowned world champion Kimi Antonelli proved his exceptional pace behind the wheel by topping the timesheets in the second free practice session (FP2). The talented Italian driver posted a commanding lap time of 1m10.763, sending a serious warning shot to his rivals for the rest of the weekend.
Earlier in the day, opening practice (FP1) had seen Lando Norris set the pace utilizing new aerodynamic upgrades brought by McLaren. However, track dynamics shifted drastically during the afternoon session. Antonelli found his optimal rhythm through the middle sector, forcing Norris to settle for second place, finishing 0.253 seconds adrift of the Mercedes pacesetter.
The battle at the sharp end remained intensely competitive thanks to a consistent display from Max Verstappen. The Red Bull Racing star secured third place in both FP1 and FP2. Nevertheless, Verstappen brought his afternoon run to an early conclusion after stepping out of his RB20 with five minutes remaining on the clock.

Meanwhile, Scuderia Ferrari appeared to be searching for the ideal setup to master the challenging Interlagos layout. Both of their drivers finished outside the top five, with Lewis Hamilton claiming sixth position, just ahead of teammate Charles Leclerc in seventh.
Home fans had plenty to cheer about as Gabriel Bortoleto flew the flag for Audi in FP2, securing a brilliant spot inside the top ten. The top ten was rounded out by Isack Hadjar in ninth and Ollie Bearman in tenth for Haas.
