Kimi Antonelli and Valtteri Bottas have both been forced to miss Formula 1 Media Day ahead of the Mexico City Grand Prix due to sudden illness.
As the 2026 season enters its tense closing stages, the Mexico round marks the pivotal weekend where Antonelli is widely expected to claim his maiden championship crown and shatter the record as the youngest F1 champion in history.
However, the race weekend has gotten off to a jilted start after the young Italian talent was rendered unable to attend the mandatory media obligations on Thursday.

Mercedes released an official statement addressing the situation regarding their rising star who is currently recovering from a viral infection.
Mercedes stated that Kimi was feeling under the weather as he recovers from a viral illness. As a precaution, the FIA excused him from his mandatory media duties to give him the chance to rest ahead of the weekend, with expectations of a return tomorrow.
The disruption was not isolated to the championship contender, as Bottas was also sidelined for the Thursday schedule due to an unexpected health setback.
Cadillac released a statement concerning the veteran driver's absence from the media pen at the circuit.
The Cadillac Formula 1 Team confirmed that Valtteri Bottas would unfortunately be unable to attend media day in Mexico City as he was unwell, opting to grant him a day of rest to support recovery.
The team emphasized that this measure was taken strictly as a precaution and currently holds no bearing on his participation for the remainder of the race weekend as monitoring continues.
Despite the sudden medical scares in the paddock, both drivers are fully anticipated to be back in their respective cockpits in time for the crucial on-track running.
