MotoGP, Sportrik Media - Marc Marquez of Ducati Lenovo Team will lead the starting grid for the 2026 Spanish MotoGP Sprint at Circuito de Jerez – Ángel Nieto after securing pole position in wet qualifying conditions.
The pole marks Marquez’s first of the 2026 season and comes after a commanding performance in challenging track conditions. He lines up ahead of Johann Zarco of LCR Honda, while Fabio Di Giannantonio of VR46 Racing Team completes the front row.
Championship leader Marco Bezzecchi of Aprilia Racing heads the second row alongside Alex Marquez and Pedro Acosta, who progressed through Q1 before securing a competitive grid position.
The third row features Jorge Martin, Enea Bastianini, and Raul Fernandez. Martin, however, will carry a three-place grid penalty for Sunday’s grand prix following a practice incident.
Francesco Bagnaia starts from the fourth row alongside Ai Ogura and Fermin Aldeguer, while the fifth row includes Brad Binder, Joan Mir, and Luca Marini.
The sixth row is led by Augusto Fernandez as Yamaha’s top representative, joined by Fabio Quartararo and Franco Morbidelli.
On the seventh row, Toprak Razgatlioglu, Lorenzo Savadori, and Alex Rins line up, while Jack Miller and Diogo Moreira complete the eighth row.
Maverick Vinales is absent from the grid following shoulder surgery, leaving Tech3 KTM with a reduced line-up. Meanwhile, wildcard entries from Yamaha and Aprilia test riders add further variables to the race dynamics.
The 12-lap Sprint race is scheduled to start at 3:00pm local time, with weather conditions expected to remain a key factor in determining performance across the grid.
Given Jerez’s limited overtaking opportunities, grid position is set to play a decisive role, making the opening laps critical for race outcome and strategic positioning ahead of Sunday’s grand prix.
